Can you hang a heavy mirror without nails?
Heavy mirrors are great pieces of furniture to have around the house. They look fantastic over a dresser and even better above a couch.
But large, bulky mirrors are a huge burden to hang. After all, you don’t want your mirror to damage the wall. And some people are uncomfortable driving nails to hang a mirror on.
Luckily, there are some ways to hang a heavy mirror without nails. If you have a heavy frameless mirror, for example, you can use Liquid Nails to mount it to the wall. As long as you apply enough adhesive and allow it to dry properly, it’ll hang fine.
However, this technique only works with frameless mirrors. Most heavy, framed mirrors require a nail to hang on.
What do you use to hang a rope mirror?
Rope mirrors usually hang just like any other mirror. Their rope frame is typically mounted to a hidden wood frame. You can hang the mirror by attaching frame clips to the wood.
Sometimes, rope mirrors have a loose piece of rope that you can use as a hanging mechanism. This piece of rope will drape perfectly over the nail and hang there just fine.
Can you hang a mirror with picture hooks?
In some cases, you may be able to hang your mirror with picture hooks. However, it has to be a specific type of mirror. Not all mirrors are compatible with these hanging devices.
For example, a frameless mirror probably won’t hang with picture hooks. These hooks are intended to mount to the back of a frame. If there’s no frame for them to mount to, they won’t work.
But, if the mirror is framed with a wood backing, you can adhere picture hooks to it.
