Frame Ideas For Mirrors

There are so many design ideas to consider when you are framing your mirror. The first one is what type of frame do you want? What color would fit best with your room? Do you want simple or elegant? These are just a few of the things to consider… but, even a simple frame can make a big difference in the overall appearance of your mirror. I have found that wood frames are a great choice for most rooms or anywhere on the walls that people will be admiring your mirror.

For metal frames, I prefer a metal with a little flash to it like satin silver or gold. Brass and bronze are great choices, and powder coated or brushed steel look great too.

The other thing to consider when framing your mirror is the mirror itself. There are so many different types and sizes of mirrors out there, they range from old to new and everything in between. I have found that frameless mirrors are the best for creating the illusion that your mirror is floating on the wall (this is a great technique for creating a “mood” in a room).

When To Frame Your Mirror

– Design Intent
– Good interior design brings the layout, furniture, and fixtures of the space together. All of these elements are important to consider when picking furniture pieces for the space. A few key questions to ask are: What is the main function of this room? How many people will be using it? What is the purpose of this activity/piece of furniture? What kind of mood am I trying to create or evoke with my space?
– The answers to these questions offer insight into how the room should be designed and what kind of furniture would best serve it. From there, you can discover which type meets your criteria.
– Framed vs. Frameless
– There are many reasons you might not want to frame your mirror. It could range from the fact that the mirror is too high up on a wall or it just doesn’t have enough of a space around it. The fact is that most bathroom mirrors are not framed. These are usually smaller mirrors that have no need for a frame or the space around it is too small to accommodate the framing.
– However, artful framing can really add to the eye appeal of your mirror. The truth is, framed mirrors can be as elegant or inexpensive as you want to make them.
– When is framed better
– A beautiful frame can add another dimension to a statement mirror. Clear or lightly antiqued mirrors are often quite subtle and minimal, so if you would like to make you piece appear bolder and more decorative, this is a good choice.
– Likewise, if you are looking to add more symmetry to your space, a frame can give this Modern touch.
– When is Frameless Better
– They take up less space than a framed mirror
– It’s easier to clean a frameless mirror
– Frameless mirrors bring a modern design aesthetic to any room.
– You do not need to worry about matching your other metal with a frameless mirror. Fixture finishes can be very specific to vendors, so getting all the browns, blacks, etc to match in your space can be tricky!
– If you decide to go with a framed piece
